Movement IQ Physical Therapy Bio
Dr. Michael Ko attended the University of Southern California and received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree in 2007. Since graduating, Michael has been working in the outpatient orthopedic physical therapy setting. Knowing there was so much more to learn in physical therapy after school, Michael has been taking numerous physical therapy continuing education courses, particularly by the Institute of Physical Arts, to further his knowledge in helping patients improve their lives. The drive to continue learning and educating himself comes from the desire to find a better and faster way to help patients reach their goals. Through hard work and dedication, Dr. Michael Ko became a Certified Functional Manual Therapist, an advance certificate given by the Institute of Physical Arts.
When Michael is not helping people with physical therapy, he is spending time with his wife, 2 dogs, and 2 cats. In order to stay physically and mentally fit, he trains in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the UFC Gym in La Mirada. He is currently a blue belt and has been training BJJ for 6 years.
Movement IQ Physical Therapy Philosphy
The human body is an integrated unit of multiple systems that need to work together in order for it to be in a healthy state. Movement IQ Physical Therapy believes that you need to train the brain as well as the body. During your time at MIQPT, you will be introduced to manual treatment , exercises, and postural education that will bridge the gap between the mind and the body. We believe in making the best and fastest possible improvements that is long lasting. In order to reach that goal, Movement IQ PT believes in 1-on-1 treatment during your 1 hour session. Treatments will not be dependent on use of modalities or a physical therapy aide. Therapeutic exercises will be instructed in the clinic but we suggest they be done at home to provide more time for manually based treatments.
