Movement IQ Physical Therapy FAQ:
Can I use my medical insurance at Movement IQ Physical Therapy?
You are able to use your insurance if your insurance company allows for self claims. Movement IQ PT is an out of network provider for all insurances. If you would like to submit claims to your own medical insurance for reimbursement, Movement IQ PT can provide an invoice of services for you. The purpose of this is to shift the focus solely on the treatment of the patient. By taking out the insurance process, the physical therapist is no longer limited on the time required to treat a patient appropriately and can spend more focused one-on-one time with the patient.
Why should I come to Movement IQ Physical Therapy?
Dr. Michael Ko is a highly skilled physical therapist with 10 years experience in outpatient orthopedics. He has taken multiple continuing education courses to further improve his skill set to make sure his patients are getting the best possible care. His hard work has resulted in becoming a Certified Functional Manual Therapist (CFMT) awarded by the Institute of Physical Arts. For a list of courses Dr. Ko has taken, please click here. Dr. Ko graduated from the University of Southern California physical therapy program, rated #1 by the US News and World Report in 2016.
What is different between Movement IQ and other physical therapy clinics?
The biggest difference between our clinic and other physical therapy clinics is TIME. Your entire visit is spent with the physical therapist and there is a high emphasis on manual based treatments. We feel that the increased personal time with the physical therapist will promote the best and fastest possible outcomes for the patient. Specific exercises will also be instructed for the patient to do independently at home.
What should I wear when I come to Movement IQ Physical Therapy?
In order to properly assess and treat a patient to the fullest potential, the patient should come prepared in clothing that provides access for manual therapy. For men, it is best to wear shorts and t-shirts. For women, it is best to wear shorts and sports bra/t-shirt.
Do you need a prescription from a medical doctor for physical therapy?
In 2014, the state of California signed into law AB1000, which allows direct access for physical therapy services. What that means for the patient is that you no longer need to have a prescription for physical therapy. You can make an appointment with the physical therapist and they will determine if you are a physical therapy candidate or refer you to your physician if your issue is outside the scope of our practice.
